South Africa's headline consumer inflation quickened to 4.7 percent year-on-year in June, well below expectations, compared to 4.6 percent in May, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Wednesday.
On a month-on-month basis, prices were up 0.4 percent in June compared with 0.3 percent previously.
Core inflation, which excludes the prices of food, non-alcoholic beverages, petrol and energy, slowed to 5.5 percent year-on-year versus 5.7 percent in the previous month, while rising 0.3 percent month-on-month from 0.2 percent.
